The Apple M3 Pro is barely faster than the M2 Pro (twitter.com/vadimyuryev)

That's not what the tweet says. It says:

"Breaking: The first Apple M3 Pro chip benchmarks have leaked! It’s actually slower than the M2 Max based on margin of error. M3 Pro: 15,173 M2 Max: 15,242"

Which is exepcted. Max is the top version and Pro is the mid version of each of those generations. M3 Pro beats M2 Pro, which is the respective tier, and M3 Max beats M2 Max.

Nobody said a mid-level M3 would beat all versions of M2, including the top ones.

I assume that the purpose of this is to get retweeted? Twitter really is insufferable these days; this is just deliberately misleading. I think that promise of maybe paying for views was the last straw; it's lead to ludicrous attention-seeking behaviour.

It's about the M3 Pro vs the M2 Max, for a start, but, yeah, this is completely expected. It would be surprising if this were _not_ the case. The M3 Pro has fewer, faster p-cores than the M2 Max. The M3 Max has more cores. I'm... confused on what's supposed to be so embarrassing here. But got to get those clicks, I suppose.
