That's not SOUND that's being transmitted through a vacuum. That's another temporary medium that's transmitting a signal through a vacuum. The sound is being converted at one end and being reconstituted at the other. The original sound hasn't gone from one place to the other.

It's no different to sound/video being transmitted from the US to France via a geostationary satellite using microwaves through the vacuum of Space.
