Pro tip: position your cheese slice as per leaving some margin at the bottom of the toast and press that zone.

Would never have occured to me try and make cheese and toast in a toaster, although the cage someone mentioned is something I need to check out!

I make my cheese and toast in a frying pan (I honestly thought this was way _everybody_ did it :D )

I make grilled cheese that way. If you want a toasted/baked option instead, toaster ovens exist and are fabulous for this sort of thing.
