Getting the mixed workload down from 1m3.409s with GoCQL to 0m19.715s with Rust was pretty damned impressive.
Also note that CDRS is also based in Rust. So it isn't just the language; it's also understanding how to get the most out of a highly asynchronous shard-per-core architecture. "Generic" programming isn't cutting it any more.
