Reminds me of a line from David Lynch’s “Lost Highway” when the character is asked why he doesn’t like video recordings of things in his life- “I like to remember things my own way. How I remembered them. Not necessarily the way they happened.”

I think deep down we are all a little like that.



Which reminds me of Ted Chiang's story "The Truth of Fact, the Truth of Feeling"[1] about exactly this tension.
