That's great, another one of those things that I've never found the right term to articulate but lines up very well with my intuitive understanding. Going wide also has benefits as you'll stumble across things that have surprising application in the areas where you've gone deep.

The other aspect to look at is if you're only an expert in machine learning, every problem looks like it can be solved with machine learning.[0]
