How are they making money? Are they taking a cut out of whatever is sold?

Yes.

Can anyone suggest a good CRM workflow? I'm considering FatFreeCRM but I'm not sure what are the differences between "Opportunities" and "Leads" and how to use "Campaigns."

From where are you getting the large images of the book covers?

How are the deals discoverable? Since the deal is "Liked" on your site, will you aggregate all deals in general product categories (Apparel, Electronics, etc.), creating a merchant/deal directory?

This is indeed a very appealing option. Right now, our intention is to sell to retailers directly as an onsite engagement and traffic-building tool. Depending on the business model that we decide to pursue, we will consider your suggestion.

How can I contact you?

My email adress is in my profile.

The conversation moves too fast for the points (karma) to matter. I can't see how this would work.

Comments drop off as the conversation continues, removing any relevancy to the points. You can't "hold" highly-rated comments because they'll end up out of context.

there's also no way that I can see that this can be fixed (in its current implementation)...

if you somehow had a history of highly voted comments, you would need all the other comments to get context, but then some of those comments might be already be downvoted to hell, etc...

also, by their nature, chatroom messages are short and often only address one part of a conversation. I don't see how there will be enough time for users to provide a meaningful upvote/downvote for anything not obviously inflammatory.

This is pretty much a perfect example of an idea so bad, even its creator should have realized it and dropped it before it got anywhere near the implementation stage.

I just did it to practice my programming...

Exploratory programming is almost always worth it for its own sake. You can't be creative if you take yourself too seriously - so well done practicing your programming and exploring a new concept at the same time. Ideas and understanding you're gathering right now about this will sit in the back of your head and will make your next project just a touch better.

Again, well done!

Seriously, what idea have you implemented lately?

The only possible way I can see this redeaming itself, is if the author comes out and claims that it is a joke. Meant to be a parody of other karma systems.

I never realized that the small businesses got their checks so early. I always assumed that Groupon would wait a while (30 days or so) before sending any money.

Those designs are absolutely awesome.

Thanks!

It looks like users can make money by having their affiliate codes embedded in (qualified) links they submit. But, how are you making money?

We have the relationships with the merchants, the users don't. We take a small cut of each sale.

Awesome first comment. Do you play competitively?
