Sadly you are atypical and the vast majority are freeloaders, who even without ads or tracking will try and find another way not to pay.

Freeloaders like all the ad-supported platforms that rely on free "content" created by the users?

There is no substance to this statement.

> Sadly you are atypical and the vast majority are freeloaders

Citation needed.

> who even without ads or tracking will try and find another way not to pay

Why is this relevant? People try to get free stuff all over the place and I don't find it makes my life difficult.

>> Sadly you are atypical and the vast majority are freeloaders

I think we need to agree upon a definition of freeloader before citing sources to support the claim. I've found that many people who use the word have a much more transactional view of the world than I do.

As opposed to morally upright people like yourself, who look for ways to pay for things that might be obtained freely?

Amusingly there's a macbook next to it in the pic, is this headless?

It has a HDMI port and its USB-C ports also support display out. But I believe most who buy it intend to use it headless. The machine runs Ubuntu 24.04 and has a slightly customised Gnome (green accents and an nvidia logo in GDM) as its desktop.

It's not running jq locally that's causing that

Yes, no-one knew what I was doing on my Vic-20, you should try it

There's probably a lot of survivor bias going on there

Undoubtedly. With 2.5T in value between tsla and sx that’s a lot of value for survivors.

What % of that is owned by employees that aren't named Elon Musk?

Being able to sudo edit inside emacs via tramp is something I've only recently discovered and I've being using emacs for years...

Were you in full time employment whilst doing all this?

Yes. Lonely people have a lot of time. It is rarely an issue. Motivation is.

OP complains about dreadful 60 hours and not about being too busy. I can relate.

My problem is something like this. I'm shy at meeting people, yet working out with someone can distract me from this free time. When I have free time I drink. The cycle is unique... I don't know how to explain it but "dreadful free time" ... that's the best i have heard yet.

I don't understand why you felt you needed to create a throwaway for that comment

Because it's nonsense. It's blatant "whataboutism" in support of authoritarianism.

This was widespread, I was also affected. I think you can create spoof tickets / accounts over Https with no verification and zendesk don't want to do anything which adds friction.

Damn that social conscience, huh?
