Given oop info I can found online, they built it to advertise themselves, I think show hn would have been much more appropriate

Mac in requirements is wild tho

If it was windows or Linux only I feel like no one would bat an eye. Plenty of software is OS dependent. Am I missing something?

I do think they should’ve put that in the title, however. Save a lot of people time

I agree with you for the no one would bat an eye had it been windows or linux

I do find the project cool, just a bit too sensationalized given the title

At this point we should have had Ai induced apocalypse a few times according to him

I haven't read from him in a while, but I don't think there was a single dated prediction that supports your argument. Do you have any sources for this claim?

I haven't read from him in a while either - but I remember reading enough tweets from him about being confident at x% probability we'll die before year z due to an Ai doing the funny

The crackhead also doesn't make dated predictions, yet I don't see people holding him up as a great modern thinker and predictor of the future.

So, if we disagree with someone's reasoning, the proper reaction is to make up random unsubstantiated claims about them and compare them to drug addicts?

I don't think this matches the guidelines of this website.

People are complaining about products engineered to be as addictive as possible, we're talking about something more than simple self control

everybody has a choice to just uninstall apps, leave the phone at home, switch it off at 8pm etc. that's what it means to be an adult. some people get addicted to work or sports - people even died from it - should we ban that, too?

The article is discussing regulating the algorithms, not banning the social networks. Just like cigarettes and alcohol are regulated but not banned

It has that ai je ne sais quoi

You could have used show hn since you made it

I would say that they are the first that decide to make everyone's life harder on purpose, first. Trying to pay them back is the least somebody could do

it looks like the fakest, ai sloppiest site i've seen, together with reviews that don't seem real

oh and it also hijacks back button

The community note gives more information on the comparison

> The chart compares permanent green cards issued to Europeans moving to the US with first-time residence permits (often temporary, for work/study) issued to Americans moving to the EU, which are not equivalent metrics.

For those that don't have Twitter.

A classic example of mistaking the finger for the moon. There's a trend there, no matter what.

Oh I think I did something similar by chance. I was seeing which websites were associated with some entities, and I found the ones of the Italian defense ministry. In italian defense is "difesa". I found one that had "bifesa" in the link, and when opened told me that I had to be more careful to links I open because it could have been a dangerous website. Flash forward to a year later and it didn't work anymore

Sounds like something used by phishing awareness training. If so, then presumably it didn’t work anymore because they ended that or use a different one.

Yes I think they might have changed it

Why? Isn't it the opposite in Europe?

My guess is the stark difference in type of cars, number of cars, typical miles driven, and public transport. A standard american's road trip vacation would be unusual in europe. For example, my relative visits family several times a year, doing 4 hour drive in a large pickup truck for a short weekend trip. In europe, my understanding is that destinations are likely to be closer, cars are smaller, and trains are common (maybe the default?).

Understandable
