Newt Gingrich of Georgia carried Buchanan’s culture
war into the House speakership. For Gingrich, politics
was solely about winning; his scorched-earth approach
treated opponents as enemies and compromise as treason.
He wanted votes, and wasn’t concerned about who was
animated by his viciousness.
This aligns with my understanding. Which is that Gingrich mainstreamed the practice of crafting malicious animosity about political opponents and then sowing that enmity throughout as much of the electorate as possible.
I got an E16, AMD not Intel so decent graphics and performance, 8GB upgraded to 40GB (this was before the AI price crunch), for around USD650 or so. And it outperforms the (admittedly Intel so kinda sucky especially graphics but also other stuff like the whiny fan that's almost always running and the plastic flaking off the "carbon fibre" case) X1 I replaced. So their budget laptop is better than their flagship one.
I've been using MSEdgeRedirect for years. It intercepts calls to Edge and sends them to whatever browser you want. It's for when Windows ignores your default browser and opens Edge w/o your consent.
