That's a telltale sign of ai written text.

> Also a state housing complex nearby with mentally unwell people screaming all night outside.

I think this would be the greatest annoyance to me, the other stuff becomes background noise eventually

What he said and what you say do not contradict each other.

Iran can be a puppet of the USA and have a great economy as well.

See also: Japan or South Korea.

> Don't see money as the only goal?

That’s easy to say when you have money, it kind of sounds like “let them eat cake”

Do you claim there are only unethical income choices? Or do you claim your expected standard of income comes only with unethical offers?

I think that you can find something morally wrong with most companies or practices within these companies.

Oh if you are looking for dirt, you can find dirt allmost anywhere, but im gemeral I do see a difference in making a website for a kindergarten, vs applying the most efficient tech to track and target children with manipulative ads.

Sure, but maybe you'll have to ad dark patterns, track users or create ad campaigns yourself for this kindergarten website.

Maybe that kindergarten want to cut food and people costs to make more money. Which could lead to very real consequences for the kids as well.

Yes and if you have ethics then you can say no. Also I never saw a Kindergarten website that even remotely did this.

> Not being able to keep Slack and Outlook open at the same time seems like a pretty significant productivity hindrance to me. 8GB RAM is truly pathetic in 2022.

I read this as how bad software quality has gone down, that a mail program and a chat program don't fit in 8GB of RAM.

That wasn't so bad compared to Xbox, I still don't know which Xbox is the latest one.

Xbox Series with X > S (so if you want the high end of the current generation you want the Xbox Series X; if you want mid-range things are more complicated because you can now get an Xbox One X, but not the Xbox One, used for much less than you'd get an Xbox Series S for and which one is "better" is a dice roll depending on the games you want to play and if 4K matters to you…)

Series is a real weird word to use there. But it also doesn't help that the versions are extra complicated because with "PC-like compatibility" in everything after the Xbox One playing just about the entire same library you need a bit of a matrix to figure out which is best for you if you don't care about the "latest and greatest".

After thoroughly reading your explanation I've decided to buy a new Xbox One!

Weirdly it only has 8GB of internal storage...

Oh wow yes, completely forgot about that one. To me, it's a complete blur made from single words and letters, one series x s one box 360? Maybe they should create a 365, with MS office pre-installed. Or something.

Compare that to Playstation: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

> Nor do I ever use Siri except for setting kitchen timers.

If it even works, it fails with "something went wrong" for me 3 out of 5 times

I picked up Hyperion on a whim on Kindle because it was on sale for 2$.

Amazing book, I bought and loved the other 3, I still hope they do a good miniseries with the books.

I sincerely hope they don't make any adaptation... after the slaughterhouse they've made with 3 Body Problem, Foundation, Altered Carbon, et al Not to mention all the damage done to other more traditional works of fiction.

Sometimes it's done right, like with The Expanse. Although the writers also wrote some of the episode scripts, so that probably helped...

To each their own I guess. I never found the Expanse television series to be very good when compared to the books.

Hm altered carbon season 1 was pretty good?

the books are still on my to read list.

You can add the Wheel of Time to the list :(((

But, the Expanse is not that bad really. Books were much more immersive with regards to the micro-G and low-G environments, but that is something almost impossible to film (at least until we learn how to control gravity).

You don’t have to watch them.

> The US sees any other global power as a potential hegemonic, imperialist power that will dominate and exploit everyone around them because, well, that's what we do.

In the Cold War, this was the correct approach, the USSR was that.

Depends a lot on the city/state. Check super blue cities like Seattle or San Francisco, and the people there complain that the justice system doesn't work as repeat offenders are let go, for one reason or another.

The big incarceration states are most likely deep red states.

The incarceration rate of every single US state is higher than that of every country in the European continent except Belarus, Russia and Turkey. Each state's incarceration rate is also higher than that of every country in the OECD (a club of mostly rich countries) except Chile, Costa Rica and Turkey.

Of the exceptions I have listed, Turkey has the highest incarceration rate of 366 per 100k. Even so, it is still lower than that of 41 states, falling between Hawaii (367) and Connecticut (326).

I live in Canada, to me the US is a whole. I am pretty sure one can find close to crimeless areas there along with something totally opposite. does not matter from the outside.
